Ohio CASA Network marks April's Child Abuse Prevention Month Ohio CASA and county programs are marking April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month with various efforts and public awareness campaigns. Child Abuse Prevention Month aims to spread awareness, while highlighting the importance of families and communities working together to fight child abuse and neglect. “The Ohio CASA Network recognizes Child Abuse Prevention Month every year. It is an important time to highlight this issue, and share ways everyone can make an impact,” said Ohio CASA Executive Director Doug Stephens. “We appreciate the work of CASA volunteers who are a voice for children every day, as well as the work of our partners across the state.” According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, over 3 million cases of child maltreatment are reported each year, with 558,899 cases substantiated in 2022, for example. CASA volunteers are involved in this work year-round, with a particular emphasis during Child Abuse Prevention Month. Multiple county CASA programs in Ohio are launching various efforts during Child Abuse Prevention Month. These include conducting public awareness campaigns, encouraging people to wear blue to spread the message and other efforts linked to this cause. Read more here. |
